Artistic Statement
My artistic intentions are centred within collaboration and creative exploration, driven by the questions of what it means to be human and how do we connect as a society. Grounded in the practices of postmodernism, my work often layers and fragments a multitude of voices with a focus of lived experiences. My aim is to create a collective environment where multiple viewpoints interact. By removing the idea of a single narrative, my work encourages audiences to construct individual meaning of the visuals presented. My abstract style of presentation challenges conventional narratives and instead encourages audiences to engage with the complexities of the human experience. Individuality is a vital theme within my work. I aim to highlight the uniqueness of each performer and collaborator that contributed to the project and the collective environment that is created from this. Alongside my collaborations with performance makers, I have an enthusiasm towards collaborating with young people to create performances. My ability to facilitate workshops with a respectful and supportive environment at their core, empowers young people to explore creative modes of individual expression while maintaining a sense of a collective community within the group. These processes allow for my work to have a deeper understanding of self and how we connect with others.
